Hi there Hendrik, and for everyone who’s struggling to download the latest issue. Apologies, some strange gremlin charing about our server is causing a very difficult to trace problem, I feel like I do when tracing electric faults in cars!
Anyway, if you wouldn’t mind bearing with us. In the meantime though, you can download the publication directly from the host of the flip-format magazine, Issuu. Just go here (http://issuu.com/ftmp/docs/sacm_april_2010), then along the top navigation bar there is a button which says “Download”. Click on that, and the file will be pulled down to your local machine, it’s a 3.6MB PDF.
We are continuing to work on the download problem, this is merely a temporary solution.

I have been reading this magazine since it’s inception, and also made it recommended reading for my students (of architecture) in their IT related subjects. Became slightly puzzled and concerned when the magazine did not appear on the normal shelves (Was actually looking for it again this morning!)
The format, as opposed to other forms of digital publishing, is wonderful. Especially that I can now, with ever increasing poor powers of sight just increase the size of what I read.
(In the past I had to use a pair of always-missing glasses to do that)
I do not have to launch a search operation and look all over the house to find a copy with the info I want to show someone or read again, and I can put the URL straight into the students’ online learning site.
Then there is also the added bonus of right-clicking to instantly determine the meaning of a word.
I now fully understand the meaning of “altruistic”

I’ve been looking forward to this digital edition, and can finally enjoy reading it. I’ve long been a fan of SACM – good luck with this new format 
Moving house made me realise how much space and weight printed magazines take up, and I unfortunately had to discard some of the ‘lesser’ publications (but definitely not SACM). I wish all magazines would be available in this digital format (PDF sans DRM is the way forward). I wouldn’t mind paying a subscription to get what I want, in the format that I want it in.
Now to find a suitable reading device – the Apple iPad (or perhaps HP Slate, when it is released) comes to mind

We were surprised as well, the leaflet that went out stating it would be the last print edition was supposed to explain about the digital edition. There will be competitions in the May issue so keep entering. We did fix the original download problem, I will check to see if it has reappeared though.

Thanks for your support, the May issue will be out very soon. As far as an iPhone App goes, we’d love to do that in the future. For now however we really want to focus on getting this format off the ground, as a new publishing team for SACM we are only just now about to launch the second issue.
Be sure to catch the May issue early as there will be competitions this time round as well as the same great content.

So when I insert the dvd, my external hard-drive makes loud noises and the dvd fly out of this shit! every time and I can’t play the game. Is there a special tube or creme to repair the dvd? Hi Adriana,
There are a variety of products that claim to fix scratched discs, although few work very well, with no guarantees at all. I’ve had some success with toothpaste believe it or not, although further damaging the disc is always a risk with that method. You could also try cleaning your optical drive heads. You can buy discs with little brushes on and cleaning fluid which can help as well. Lastly, although getting an ISO would be illegal, there are obviously many available as torrents. An entire game ISO is huge though, and I say again illegal, so if you’re internet has a restrictive cap would pose a problem.

You read it in bed, on the toilet, in the bath, on the couch, take it along on holiday or anywhere, but not on the computer. Think this is a big mistake! We understand your concerns regarding print media vs online. The previous publisher of SACM, Tide Media, dropped the print edition of SACM following a difficult financial year for them. We are not Tide Media. So the ‘mistake’ as you put it, which I disagree with, was not ours. Tide Media discontinued SACM in print and as it was to then sit dormant, rather offered it to us in our free online format so that the readers wouldn’t be the ones to suffer. We are still providing the same great content that you’ve always enjoyed, but now it’s free and delivered via the web as opposed to paper. Yes, there are some disadvantages for certain people such as yourself, but then there are also advantages. Did I mention it’s free? We hope you’ll continue to read SACM, and as a computer and technology magazine we will continue to embrace the technology which we write about with our online format by providing SACM online. That’s not to say there will never be a print edition, I can’t see the future, but as it stands at the moment we are solely online.

We are using WordPress for our website. If you are referring to the magazine itself, well that’s designed the same as any magazine. Our designer generates a PDF of the magazine which is then hosted by Issuu to provide the flip format magazine.

I am usually not one to post my opinion on other’s articles, but for this post I simply had to do it. I’ve been browsing in your website a lot recently and I’m really impressed, I think you might potentially become the main voices for your niche. Not sure what your load is like in life, but if you began commiting more effort to writing here, I would guess you would start seeing a lot of traffic soon. I’ve set up my computer to automatically connect to my home network, but on startup, it instead attempts to connect to “SoftAP-C0″, a network with zero signal strength that probably belongs to one of my neighbors. It is unable to connect, and displays “waiting for users” instead of “connected” or “disconnected”. I have to then disconnect from that network, manually connect to my home network, and type in the security key. Because my computer never manages to actually connect to the SoftAP network, I’m unable to access the configuration window to disable autoconnect (if that’s even what is making my computer try to connect to it in the first place.) Is there some other way to access its configuration (other than through the Network and Sharing Center)?

Paste the RSS feed, the url in your address bar, into whatever client you use to capture RSS feeds. Some mail programme’s offer the feature, or you’ll have to get a third party client such as feed burner. Just google RSS reader, or XML reader.
